Hidden Nest

I loved the way the sunrise sky lit up the sillouette of this nest in a tree in my yard. I had no idea all summer that little nest was there but now that the leaves are long gone and winter is getting ready to take hold.....there it is, a beautifully built nest....Birds, gotta love 'em!

Mother Nature's Crayon Box

I am always amazed at the stunning colors Mother Nature has in her crayon box and the "paper" on which she colors. Simply beautiful!

As Daylight Time Gets Shorter......

It makes me treasure late summer sunsets like this!!! I just love the colors that the sky can make, if only I could have a box of crayons of sunset colors.......

My Three Frogs!

I just had to share with you a picture of my three frogs! lol These guys live on my patio all year round. They just sit there so stately and silent. They are aging gracefully too I might add. They are about 5 years old now. It is so funny when you all of the sudden look at things that maybe you see everyday, differently! What do you have on your patio or porch that has been there for years that today you might see "in a different" light or have a renewed appreciation for???? Happy Friday!

Chives, Chives, Chives Everywhere........

It is that time of year again when my chives are in bloom. I absolutely love this herb. It is so forgiving if you ignore it, it blooms profusely in the spring in a beautiful poof of purple! It is so pretty that I have to forgive its only fault...all the little seeds it sprinkles all over my garden. You really have to dead-head them once the blooms start to fade or you will have a SEA of CHIVES next year! It is a bit of work when you have as many clumps of chives as I do but being able to go out and cut fresh chives for a baked potato any time during growing season is so worth it........

Early Bird Gets The.......

worm? tune? Well here where I live the early bird is getting up earlier and earlier! They are all out there singing at 5 a.m. and its nowhere near light out yet. It was like they were all trying to outsing each other. It seems everyday it gets started even earlier and sometimes different bird groups take turns! Sounds silly I know but oh so true. This morning it was the robins first, then the doves started their cooing...next thing I hear is the little song birds like the finch out there tweeting away. I have to admit I do like listening to them...it shows there is so much promise to the day and that spring is now in full swing. I suppose it is a sign that it is the beginning of a fresh new season.....Happy Spring!

Etsy and I........

I first heard of Etsy on a daytime television show and looked it up online. What I found that day was at first overwhelming. Could there really be a site where all my favorite things can be bought and sold???? Truly handmade items that are a labor of love and charming vintage items looking to be loved again. I kept Etsy in the back of my mind for quite a while. Finally one day after seeing it again mentioned in a favorite home decorating magazine I went back to the website. It was then that I couldn't stop the creative ideas from flowing....what if I open an Etsy shop? http://KayLynnStudio.etsy.com was born! Now a second shop,http://AMarigoldLife.etsy.com and a blog later her I am. I am doing what I love. Sometimes I have to remind myself that if you do what you love the rest will follow. Keep at it, never stop and dreams can come true!

Unfinished Projects

The other day I was at a church rummage sale and while there I came across some patterns in a box. The more I went thru them I realized they weren't just patterns but projects that someone had done and saved each so neatly in baggies with all the pieces and instructions, etc.... As I was looking at them a woman approached me and asked if I was interested in them. I told her I am a crafter/artist and I just love to go thru things like this. She smiled so big and then asked if I would take them all if she gave me a good price. I said sure and she was soooo happy to hear they would be going to a good home. It turns out the lady who wrote out all the patterns had passed away and so I was sort of "inheriting" her project file.....as I said in my post the other day, Time flies....and so my hope now is that I can have time to sort thru these projects and see what vintage patterns I can revive and bring to life again in this century.....so off I go to add to my unfinished projects...........

Time Flies.....

Today I had a long "to do" list and did not come anywhere close to getting it done. I started today with a plan and then everything just took much longer. It is now late afternoon and I realized I had not even posted to my blog...and it was only my second day of blogging..so hopefully I will find a more regular time to blog everyday. I did have a very interesting day though and tomorrow I will post some pictures of my "finds" from today. I also have a story to tell about a purchase I made today at a church rummage sale....it was boxes of patterns and craft projects of someone who ran out of time....she never got to finish all the craft projects she prepared to do...somehow...time got away from her and her unfinished projects are now part of my "finds" from today. That is why my post today is "Time Flies....."

Why A Marigold Life???

To Start my blog off I just had to write about why I named it A MARIGOLD LIFE. First of all I love marigolds. They are a hardy, bright, colorful, everblooming flower. Usually they just sit somewhere in your landscape or garden and do their thing. They don't need to be fussed over too much but they are constantly renewing themselves. When you do take off the spent blooms it isn't long until twice as many blooms pop up! You can even take those spent blooms and dry the petals out and sprinkle them onto a salad, yes, that's right marigolds are edible! So I realize that marigolds have so much going on and are ever changing...... As a wife, mother, gardener and Etsy business owner, this soooo mocks my life....... I realized I have a MARIGOLD LIFE ! Everyday I plant "seeds" and hope they will make the world a better place, just like a marigold plant. So please come along on some of my daily adventures and share with me as we decorate, sew, garden, craft, cook, parent, and renew our way through life. A MARIGOLD LIFE!.........
